Jeannette Junior High is one of three UCS schools offering the Advancement via Individual Determination (AVID) program.  AVID is a structured college preparatory system working directly with schools and districts to provide support for college-bound students.  This school-wide approach to curriculum and rigor focuses on increasing academic achievement with the expectation that every student will pursue some type of postsecondary educational endeavor.

In conjunction with a comprehensive program in core academic subjects at the secondary level, students also have a broad selection of elective and exploratory classes. With programs such as our Utica Center for Science and Industry (UCSI); Utica Center for Mathematics, Science and Technology(UCMST); Utica Center for Applied Learning; and the Utica Academy for International Studies (UAIS), we meet the needs of students at every level. These programs help foster a college culture within our schools and provide your child with the opportunity to explore various interests as early as junior high school.
